We spent two weeks at the beginning of August and went to Whitehorse, Valdez, Anchorage and FAirbanks, but the small towns are the beset. Our favorite place was Valdez although we really enjoyed the Homer area and Denali national park (the best place for wildlife watching). If you want? to see wildlife make sure to do boat cruises from Valdez&Seward and bus tour of Denali. It is hard to see much just touring on the roads.
