Thanks for the video, I didn't know about char cloth till a buddy mentioned it, I've alway gone down to the local laundromat and asked for some dryer link. I keep that in a zip lock bag. It's free, no prep, light, compressable and instant fire. Just remember, you might get weird? looks when you go asking for dryer link.

You missed ONE trick... It's best to have a touch of water in the tin... It turns to steam? and drives the air out BEFORE ignition temperature. You don't need much... but getting rid of the air improves the yield. The smoke you see is your char -- burning -- with the air you didn't drive out! Hence dropping your yield. Your process is known as Carbonizing... Bing it!
