Well some places, like Yellowstone or Denali, the Rangers want to make sure that you know what you are doing, so by taking these courses it adds to your backcountry resume, so to speak. But it's also about meeting new people, and when you have a bunch of like minded people getting together, it? helps.

i think you need a certain mindset to be comfortable in the wilderness. some people get into camping but? dont quite get it, and feel like they need more home like goodies. they are your target market i think.

if you know what your doing all you need to? survive in he wilderness is a few tools e.g knive hatchet things of that nature (pun intended) food and water can almost always be fond and shelter can always be made
