It is really hard to want to watch more of your videos with the sound quality SO bad! You could have? fixed it after the first comments on your first vids like this. You would have had many more subscribers and happy viewers and educated more people. :)

Great post with fantastic common sense advice. Thank you for promoting the? idea that you don't need a bunch of expensive gear and equipment to bivouac in colder climes. Well thought out and nicely done. Using the local veg with a bin bag is a fantastic idea. Have you done any camping in the US?

Finally, I totally agree with you ... I like the screw-link ... Those climb-rated crabs are WAY too expensive ... I have found some affordable "S"-biners, at Harbor Freight (Chinese hardware outlet) and those should help as drip-links, on my tarp-lines (non weight-bearing). Also suggest using bank-line (#18+ nylon seine twine) as a "knot-line" for tarps utility lines ... And ... Reflective army? casualty blanket between hammock layers. Worth the bulk/weight.

Thanks for the video. I think in the UK you might not experience the sorts of cold nights we get in many parts of Canada but I do consider your winter camping ideas very useful for early spring and late fall camping here.?
By: seanmulhall. on 10 Feb 11, 19:22:29
I? only talk about what I do in the climate where I live. I have no experience is colder environments.

Good? idea! I would think staying OFF the cold ground would keep a person substantially warmer!

@ralphweener What part of? Canada are you in? I'm in Manitoba my self I like the over head tarp with camp fire it would trap and hold in more heat in winter but then I don't camp in -20 ?c lol

Wouldn't all outdoor advice be applicable to the advisor's region? Having worked & camped outdoors in winter in two very different regions, it is interesting to note that even a relatively small increase in humidity can be very chilling, & feel colder near 32F than still and dry at? -10F. Rain is rarely an issue in deep cold, but a tarp can help trap body heat, even a few feet above. Less fun w/out the stargazing, though.
