I don't own a tent...and have slept comfortably in all? types of weather in my Hennessy for almost 6 years now....BTW headed to southern Ontario to camp for 5 days tomorrow.....

Fire and these hammocks are a terrible mix. They were probably too close for comfort when I think about it. The blue tarp if? I remember correctly (seems like a lifetime ago) was to block the prevailing winds.

I have a tip for to avoid the cold: bring two sleeping bags with you.? Serious. I have one "big" sleeping bag and one thin ultra light. When it's really cold I sleep inside the ultra light, inside the big one. Works for me.

Look up hammock camping by Shug Emery here on you tube. His solution to thee frozen butt is an "under-quilt" He made his out of down...compact, light weight? and very warm. This hangs on the outside of the hammock to prevent compression and maximize warmth. A great idea!

just used the new hyper lite and did so in the snow. mind you, it did not snow when I was there but snow was in? pathes on the ground. I slept ok in a north face cats meow, 20. i also have the super shelter inculated bottom on and the top cover all sold by hennessy. on top of all this, i used a short thermarest 1" pad and other than condensation in the morning, it was great

also you really have to be careful of mosqiotoes who have no problem biting penetrating through that material, i woke up once after sleeping with my face in the hammock and half my face was COVERED in bites, i looked like two face, didnt go looking for babes that day!?
